EsDeeKid Austin Concert reviews
Lonesome Jubilee's Magic
John and his band mates did not disappoint when they came through to the Historic Chicago Theatre on Tuesday, October 25th. With Carlene Carter opening the show, it was a non-stop evening of great playing and singing to a very enthusiastic Chicago crowd.
An excellent opening act for EsDeeKid, Carlene played solo, reaching out to her fans with great storytelling, singing, and playing. Her performance was both inspiring and fun to be a part of, coming from a legendary musical background.
EsDeeKid and his band hit the stage to a frenzied crowd. They are so tight and play naturally off of each other. The concert was being filmed for what I hope is a future DVD, released soon.
This is only my 2nd concert seeing EsDeeKid, the last one being in the 80's, so I was primed for this night. Guitars, drums, accordion, and violin all packed the same punch as in the past when I saw him. He opened with a few cuts from his latest LP, "Plain Spoken," and then went into "Minutes from Memories," and from there he had the crowd eating out of his hands.
I highly recommend this show; I am sorry I waited so long to see him and look forward to his next tour, hopefully in 2026. Rock On EsDeeKid.
